ArmedEscort.dec

Previews start today!

I’m pretty excited, the newest card I’ve seen thus far is Cyclops, Man of Action…

…who’s filled with all sorts of awesome potential. But I digress-

Burn!

Recently, a Golden Age Infinite Combo was discovered that can go off as earlier as turn three. This combo relies on a character with Energize, Armed Escort , and the Red Skull – Aleksander Lukin * RAID.

As CaptainSpud described it:

2-drop Energize guy (we’ll say, Havok) equipped with an Armed Escort, sitting next to Red Skull – Aleksander Lukin.

1. Bucky attacks Red Skull.
2. Havok activates Armed Escort. Red Skull loses Defender, Havok gains defender.
3. Red Skull triggers. 2 burn, 2 gain.
4. Havok’s energize triggers. He readies.
5. Havok activates Armed Escort. Havok loses Defender, Havok gains defender.
6. Red Skull triggers. 2 burn, 2 gain.
7. Havok’s energize triggers. He readies.
8. Repeat 5 through 7 as many times as you want.

Pretty neat yeah?

So is there something to be done about it if any?

I think that an errata is probably the best. I mean, you don’t really lose anything.

I think this is more of a matter of principle. At first I was really against UDE taking any action against it, but apparently this combo is legal in Random Punks and BYO2T which is pretty surprising.

I think if it were just resticted to Golden Age it would be okay. I really don’t think the combo is a combo without O-Force as there are decks whose natural preference is to eschew attacking altogether. In Random Punks and BYO2T it seems like it would be too hard to deal with.

It’s such a shame because isn’t this what deckbuilding in CCGs is about? Finding innovating little combos? Turning bad cards that we never thought were playable into very good ones with the addition of new cards?

Peace,
